Cologne/Bonn Academy in Exile

Cologne/Bonn Academy in Exile (CBA)

The Cologne/Bonn Academy in Exile was founded on June 13, 2022 by the University of Bonn and the University of Cologne. Its aim is to support academics who have been affected by the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and wish to continue their research at the universities of Cologne and Bonn in line with their regional expertise.

Support from the Cologne/Bonn Academy in Exile

The CBA is a forum for exchange, but does not provide any financial resources itself. In addition to administrative support, the CBA offers work spaces and academic mentoring in the specific disciplines to enable researchers to integrate more successfully into the local, national and European higher education landscape. Integration into the academic environment of the CBA is also possible without funding.

The Main goals of the project are:

  • Contributing to the integration of Ukraine into the European community against the background of EU accession.
  • Preservation and promotion of regionally specific knowledge in the German and European academic landscape
  • Supporting the transition to a peaceful future after the war
